How To Transition Your Wardrobe Into Spring

Spring 2010 is right around the corner! Time to clean out those closets! So I have a few tips I give all my clients.

1)One rule I have is , if you have not worn an item in over a year....Pitch It! Unless it has sentimental value....it is taking up space!

2)Go through your basics,ex:tanks and tees....especially white, see what needs to be refreshed.

3)Learn what consignment stores are around town. They are great for getting rid of items that are current but did not get much attention. This gives you cash flow for adding NEW to your wardrobe!

4)Remember, transition means to start wearing brighter colors, lighter jackets, lighter weight leathers. If you are tired of boots and Uggs with your leggings and straight leg jeans....replace with flats and NO SOCKS! Suede ballerina flats or driving shoes still appropriate!

5)Organize your closet by tops, bottoms,sweaters, coats,shoes, accessories...colorize light to dark. That way you can mix and match and maximize your wardrobe.

6) Start changing your mani's and pedi's....use colors , still dark per trend, but hues of pinks,purples, blues , and greens.

7)Update your accessories, add some color to your blacks and grays.

8)Remember Spring/Summer fashion season goes by fast. If you have special occassions such as wedding, graduations, tropical trips....shop March and April and get the best of what is NEW!

The one thing I love the most about spring/summer is the simplicity of throwing on my flops with whatever I have on....a dress, shorts, my jeans.....they go with everything! Chan Luu is a designer of fine fashion jewelry and accessories. Originally from Vietnam, Chan Luu moved to Boston and later Los Angeles to earn a degree in Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Design in 1975. She opened her own boutique in 1982 and began designing her own accessories in 1996. Chan pieces have been featured in Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Harper Bazaar and InStyle. In a time of change in priorities, the fashion world has evolved. Styles reflect past memories and future hope. Women have to simplify their wardrobe and select carefully. Designers pay closer attention to detail,personality, and feel good fabrics. Stores are capturing the consumers interest with always finding the next best style. The Internet is now more visual and personal.

But there is a new twist in this time in fashion history, all around, people are giving back. We design to benefit non profit organizations, stores are promoting sales so proceeds of profit benefit charity, women are more aggressive in speaking out for the needs of each other, global support has grown and through creating a product , tribes of poverty stricken children are learning skills and selling product such as scarf's and jewelry. We are coming together and demanding compassion.

Fashion has evolved and supports an industry to be creative, speak freely, allow individual expression, and now awareness to the needs of humanity. I believe this big business is the greatest industry exsisiting in today's free world! Support it, give back!
